Remember the 2 mana Crossbow Dudes mentioned earlier? They're considered S-tier by many in the community and they're just one of the many starter cards you'll start the game with. Some may consider it to be p2w considering there are often Legendary and Supreme rarity cards that have massive synergies with existing decks, but honestly you'll do more than just fine without them considering the meta decks will sometimes not even contain any of those types of cards, and people reach top tier ranks with them all the same. Also there is a lot of variety for the Masters aka the towers, with different tactics to suit your playstyle be it swarming enemy with trash units, dropping big units and buffing them or just say "Screw it, I'll do this myself" and drop your own Master onto the enemy's tower to join the fight yourself. Imagine Clash Royale, but your 2 mana Crossbow Dudes won't be beaten by the enemy's Crossbow Dudes just because he played the game longer or spent more money on it.
